Floodlit cricket arrives in Kenya

The first floodlit game of cricket in Kenya took place at Mombasa’s Jaffery Sports Club on October 7 where the club has installed new floodlights.

"The club can now be the first at the coast to offer such unique facilities of night cricket and football in addition to the floodlight tennis and volleyball courts,” said a spokesman.

The first floodlit cricket game in Kenya took place in the 1990's involving a team of Indian all-star professionals, and was organised by Swamibapa Cricket Club.

A huge crowd turned up to watch a very good game and a great night out was had by all.

How come there is no website for cricket kenya. We also need the site to provide details of local cricket, development projects & all the relevant info regarding cricked in Kenya.

In my opinion the best allrounder Kenya has ever produced is Zulfikar Ali. I am only making this point after a heated debate in our community center.

NB There is an official site for Cricket Kenya at http://cricket.co.ke/

Now that Mombasa Jafferys have floodlights, how about staging one of the three ODI's there between Kenya and the visiting Bermuda team in November?

I agree with Maji that Kenya needs a website showcasing its domestic cricket; developments, players(present and former), leagues, grounds (other than Gymkhana)and additional marketing opporunities (pherhaps this will generate additional revenue/sponsorship other than Ishan). In addition, I would recommend for Kenya to reach out to former Kenyan cricketers to draw from their knowledge and experience and instill a sense of tradition and pride back into Cricket Kenya.
