I think the amusing thing is that even if England lose their next match, they will still auto qualify for next years World T20, whereas Netherlands still have to qualify.
I believe that the ICC should:
* Expand next years World T20 to 14 Teams (2x7, Semis & Final).
* Teams that Qualify for this World T20 Super 8's should qualify for next years World T20.
* Expand next years World T20 Qualifiers to 12 Teams (2x6), being Teams finishing 9-12 in this T20, Zimbarbwe and Top 7 Associate ODI teams that are not already listed. Top 3 teams from each group would qualify.
My guess is the 8 Auto Qualifiers would be: Aust, SA, Ind, Pak, NZ, SRL, BANG & NETH.
My guess is the 12 World T20 Q's would be:
Teams 9-12: Eng, WI, IRL & Scot.
(Zimb)
7 Assoc's: Canada, Kenya, Afghan, UAE, Namibia, USA & Bermuda.
This would give an incentive for ALL teams to perform in the World T20's, as well as giving more matches for each team in the World T20 (why have 4 warm up matches?).
I agree with most of what Terry Jones says. But why USA among the 7 Assoc's (sic)? Surely that is Uganda's place as a High Performance country?
Despite Mr Lorgat's prompting, USA is still way down the pecking order in terms of results. Glad to see Namibia have made it on to Mr Jones' list, though, having been otherwise poleaxed.
Incredible that is all i can say
What a fantastic performance by the men from Holland, after all it was only England tht they beat not a real cricket force. Just goes to the 20/20 format is here to stay and will present the great game of cricket to whole new cricket public. Let's hope another up set is on the cards by a so called qaulifier. go the orange army!!!!
Just to put some light on Colin's and Terry's comments:-
Next T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies in April-MAy 2010. All full members will get direct entry and eight associate nations will fight for the remaining berths in WT20 Qualifier in October in UAE. As of now, it has been decided that a total of 12 countries will play in that tourney.
The eight associate nations are: Ireland,Netherlands, Scotland, Canada, Kenya, Afghan, UAE, and USA
next T20 World Cup I want the Bangladeshi Tigers to win the cup
